Step-by-Step Recipe for Philadelphia Sushi

To prepare sushi rolls at home:

  1. Cook the rice. This is the foundation of any sushi. Rinse 200 g of rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Pour 300 ml of water over the rice and cook over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce heat to minimum, cover with a lid, and cook for 10 minutes. Let it sit for another 10 minutes without opening the lid.
  2. Prepare the rice seasoning. Mix 2 tbsp of rice vinegar, 1 tsp of sugar, and 1 tsp of salt. Stir well. Allow the rice to cool to room temperature.
  3. Prepare the filling. Cut the cucumber into thin strips, and slice the avocado. Cut the salmon into thin slices.
  4. Form the rolls. Lay a sheet of nori on a bamboo mat (shiny side down). Moisten your hands with water and spread a thin layer of rice over the nori, leaving one edge empty for sealing.
  5. Filling. Place the cucumber strips, avocado, and cream cheese in the center. Using the bamboo mat, carefully roll it up, pressing slightly to keep its shape.
  6. Salmon on top. Cover the finished roll with thin slices of salmon and gently press them onto the rice.
  7. Cut the rolls. Moisten a knife with water and cut the roll into equal pieces, about 2 cm wide.
